Apple has reportedly sold a whopping three million units of the new iPad within three days of its launch last week. This is a new record in the opening weekend iPad sales and is three times that of its predecessor. While it initially went on sale in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Switzerland, UK, US Virgin Islands, and Hong Kong, it will be sold in 24 other countries starting 23 March. The tablet is one of the biggest sources of revenue for the company, and its huge sales are therefore going to give the company a shot in the arm.
The new iPad has several improvements over its predecessor. It has a faster CPU and graphics, a high resolution Retina display, and an HD camera. In accordance with Apple's tradition, you can now buy the new model at the same price as the older model, while the price of the older model has been made more affordable. While it is available in several more countries around the world later in the month, India still does not figure on the list. As of now, no date has been set for an India launch, but we will keep you posted with any info that comes our way.
